Mobile lung cancer screening truck comes to Ivy Tech Sellersburg
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Indiana University is bringing its cancer-fighting tools to you starting Tuesday, April 1, and lasting through Thursday.
A 40-foot truck that’s fully equipped with a CT scanner will be making its way to Ivy Tech Sellersburg.
The mobile lung screening event will be happening from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Annual screenings are recommended for adults ages 50 to 80 with a smoking history, but doctors encourage everyone to get screened regardless.
“We typically think of smoking-related cancers, but there are other types of cancers that happen as well,” Clark County Health Officer Dr. Eric Yazel said. “That may not be on somebody’s forefront of their mind if they’re a non-smoker to have these screenings, so it’s certainly something to think about as well.”
Pre-registration is recommended online, but walk-up appointments will also be available. To pre-register or to find more information, click or tap here.
